Following A Dream

We dream. Yes, we all do. Consciously or unconsciously, there is always something that we dream about doing or having, given the chance. However, not all that we dream about, are meant for us. Some dreams are left unrealized while some go out on their own and come true without us doing much to realize them.

Do you ever just sit down for a while and think about what you want to do in the future? Do you pause in the middle of watching your favorite TV show and thought that you want to be in a show like that? Have you ever thought that you want to build an empire, climb Mt. Everest, have a face-to-face encounter with Bill Gates, release your own album, travel to different places in the world, go skinny-dipping or just be a millionaire? If you do, you are already one step closer to following a dream.

Dreams do not come everyday or every time we want it. Sometimes, it takes a decade before one finds out that he/she has this dream. Some came out too late that there are no longer enough time to make them come true while some are just in denial that they have this dream but since it seems impossible, they just don’t entertain the idea of having that kind of dream.

Whatever it is that we want to do or to have that at present, we couldn’t do or have could be a dream. I, for one, dream of being a songwriter. So far, I can say that it’s one thing that I do really dream about and if only my luck would be good to me, I want to have a name in that field. However, there comes a time that I stay away from my dream or like, I forget for a moment that it’s what I really want. Because of fear that I may not be given a chance to pursue it? Maybe. Because I’m too lazy to make an effort? Maybe. Because I feel that I couldn’t achieve it? Maybe.

Believe me when I say that when you have something that your heart truly feels you really want, you will always be challenged by life or its circumstances. After exerting time, effort and money, you might suddenly want to give up on your dream because it’s easier to give up than to fail yours and others’ expectation. When you are already at the peak of realizing your dream, something will happen that would make you change your mind about it. And worst of all, when you finally knew what you most wanted to become, it is already too late or you do not have the means to make it happen.

These challenges make your dream all worthy of having because once you got through them, you’ll emerge as a stronger, better and wiser person than you were before. Your motivation to achieve your dream will multiply and you’ll have loads of self-confidence to pursue whatever it is that you want.

Following a dream may take a lifetime but you have today to start your own countdown. Go, live a dream and let your dreams make you live.
